Commonwealth Home Design recently celebrated a major milestone – 40 years of remodeling homes in and around Vienna, Virginia – with a special anniversary event in partnership with the Vienna Business Association.
The evening brought together clients, local business owners, and community leaders for a memorable celebration reflecting on four decades of design excellence, craftsmanship, relationships, and community connection.
A Meaningful Setting: At Home with Commonwealth
The event was held at the home of Commonwealth owners Susan and Kelvin Pierce, who designed and built the house in 2006 on a property that was originally part of Thompson’s Dairy Farm, one of the area’s significant dairies. Guests experienced firsthand the level of detail and thoughtful design that defines Commonwealth’s work, as seen throughout this Built for History: A Gilded Age Home.

Celebrating Community Connections
Throughout the evening, Susan and Kelvin Pierce shared remarks reflecting on the firm’s 40-year journey and their deep appreciation for the Vienna community that has supported their growth.
They specifically recognized organizations such as the Vienna Business Association and the Rotary Club of Vienna, where Kelvin previously served as president, for their role in fostering strong local connections and supporting small businesses.
Local Flavor and Hospitality
The event also highlighted the strength of the local business community, with a delicious spread provided by fellow Vienna-area favorites, including Toastique (located in the lower level of the Commonwealth Home Design building), Plaka Grill, and Nothing Bundt Cakes.
Guests enjoyed an evening of conversation, connection, and celebration – reconnecting with familiar faces and meeting new members of the community.
Door Prizes and a Creative Community Touch
Vienna Business Association Executive Director Peggy James shared updates on upcoming community initiatives and helped facilitate a series of door prize giveaways.
One of the most popular items of the evening was a Cherry Blossom-themed Rustic Love wooden yard sign – a nod to the well-known mural hosted on the side of Commonwealth Home Design’s building. Learn more about the Rustic Love Hearts & Home Mural project.
Looking Ahead
Attended by over 40 guests, the 40-year anniversary celebration was a reflection of the relationships and community support that have shaped Commonwealth Home Design over the years.
As the firm looks ahead, its commitment remains the same: delivering high-quality home remodeling services while continuing to be an active and engaged part of the Vienna community.
Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this special occasion. Commonwealth Home Design looks forward to many more years of helping homeowners transform the way they live.
