As featured in Arlington Magazine, Commonwealth Home Design’s whole house remodeling project was the 2019 CotY Grand Award Winner for an Entire House under $250,000. Each year, the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) honors outstanding members that demonstrate exceptional results in remodeling projects.

Commonwealth Home Design completely remodeled and transformed a modest, single-story 1960 rambler tract home into a stunning, modern open floor design with a beachy, cottage-style ambiance. The project included removing interior finishes, bearing and non-bearing walls, and ceiling joists to open out the walls and ceilings, significantly lengthening sight-lines throughout the home. The kitchen was relocated, enlarged through a 6’ x 19’ front bump out, and modernized to become a focal point and functional gathering space for family and guests. Visual interest was added at all levels of the home including preserving and enhancing a fireplace centerpiece and taking advantage of views beyond through existing large windows. Traffic flow was improved beginning with a new entryway design that includes built-ins for organizing and storage. Quality and craftsmanship can be found in each detail of this remarkable home transformation project. See before and after photos!
